The College Consortium for International Studies (CCIS) is a consortium of two- and four-year, public and private U.S. colleges and universities whose members offer study abroad opportunities around the world. The 14th Annual CCIS Conference was held in Dublin, Ireland, April 3-5, 2003. It was very well received by all participants. A high point of the conference was the Friday opening session with Garret FitzGerald and Hugh McMahon. Dr. FitzGerald has been active in Irish and European politics since 1965 and was the Prime Minister of Ireland from 1981 to 1987. McMahon was a member of the European Parliament from 1982 to 1999 and is an expert on European Union politics.

Here are just a few of the comments from conference participants:
"Congratulations on a great conference and all the hard work put into this! We did what one of the speakers challenged us to do; the point of study abroad is to get beneath the surface and we were shown and given tools to do this."
"Familiarity with history, politics and economic issues is invaluable for international educators. The focus on Ireland in this second international conference is important and essential as it goes beyond simple marketing of programs and organizational CCIS issues."
"This was a good venue to discuss issues as they appear and as they affect study abroad."
