New Zealand: Hamilton Semester

Program Overview

CCIS students at the University of Waikato love the relaxed atmosphere of the Waikato campus and the city of Hamilton. With a population of 110,000, Hamilton is New Zealand's fourth largest city and is well served with parks, gardens, and scenic river walks. The city has an active music, art, and café culture, all with a distinctly New Zealand and Pacific flavor.

The Waikato region offers many of New Zealand's major outdoor attractions less than one and a half hours drive from the University. Popular among them include excellent surfing and swimming beaches, forest parks, lakes, thermal pools, and limestone caves. The major North Island's mountain ski areas are only three hours away.

Alumni Feedback

"The people are so friendly and very helpful. Hamilton is also right in the center of the North Island with easy access for traveling."
-Megan Wick

"A few friends and I spent a day hiking the Tongariro Crossing--a 17K trek that summits 2 active volcanoes and takes you by the Emerald and Blue Lakes. It was the perfect day outside--you could see forever from the top of Mt. Ngauruhoe. Do it! It's the most incredible learning experience, and you'll have a blast in the meantime."
-Erin Butler
