Coronavirus Updates

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

Last Updated April 1, 2020

CCIS is committed to the continued health and safety of our students. As a consortium, CCIS governance, program sponsors, overseas hosts, and the central office are working collaboratively to monitor and assess the Coronavirus situation. CCIS program sponsors are sending program specific communication to students, advisors, and our members.

CCIS believes in the importance of global opportunities for all students. There will be many uncertainties as the Coronavirus situation changes and evolves. Health and safety comes first and we also know that your students have worked hard to make their upcoming summer and fall study abroad experience a reality. CCIS will work to provide students with as many study abroad opportunities as possible under the circumstances.

For program specific questions, please contact the CCIS program sponsor directly. Sponsor contact information is found on the program page on the website for each program. If at any time you would like to speak with us, please call the CCIS central office at 202-223-0330.

The CCIS central office, governance committees, sponsors, and overseas hosts will monitor and assess all program locations for current and upcoming terms. This includes and is not limited to:

  • Advisory Levels (CDC and U.S. State Department)
  • Travel restrictions (airline, train, local, quarantines)
  • Member university policies
  • Local host institution closures
  • Health care capabilities in host city
  • Best practices in the field

We understand that each of our member institutions will have different policies and CCIS will work to support our members on an individual basis. We thank all of you for the work you're doing in international education at this difficult time.
