Program Overview

The Manawatu campus in Palmerston North is the founding home of Massey University. With a student population of 9,000 students, the campus sits amongst beautiful park-like grounds, and offers students a university lifestyle like no other.

This vibrant, young person's city with the highest student population per head in New Zealand, offers affordable accommodation, great bars and restaurants, live theatre, sporting centres and indoor pools. For the adventurous, there are challenging mountain bike tracks, bungi-jumping, river kayaking and equestrian facilities.

Academic Highlights

New Zealand-focused subjects of particular interest to recent students include: Maori Visual & Performing Arts, NZ Fauna & Flora, NZ Environmental Issues, Plate Tectonics & NZ Geology, Mid-Twentieth Century Aotearoa/ NZ Literature, Maori Language, Defense Studies, and the New Zealand Economy.

Global Student Athlete Program


The Global Student Athlete program allows athletes to improve their skills and fitness while studying overseas. GSA combines study abroad with professional coaching and personal training for student athletes. Our newest track: Golf  as our sports-specific trackOur other track: Strength and Conditioning provides support for student-athletes from any sport. All tracks are open to male and female athletes.

Costs Included

The program fee includes tuition, fees, CISI insurance, New Zealand student health insurance, and an arrival airport shuttle if arranged ahead.

Costs Not Included

Estimated costs include passport, airfare, room and board (costs depend on housing and meals or "catering" options student selects), books (estimate of 500 New Zealand dollars per term), laundry, personal expenses, and local transportation.


*Notenon-refundable program deposit of $800 is due upon acceptance and is applied toward the total cost of the program.

Eligibility Requirements


Interested students should have at least sophomore standing and a GPA of 2.8 based on a 4.0 scale or higher, in addition to transcripts and two letters of recommendation. Community college applicants must have completed the requirements for an associate's degree before the start of the program.
