Activities and Opportunities
Student Life
Week one is orientation week, allowing students the chance to settle into Sydney, visit their host organization, attend an internship orientation session, a campus tour and a Sydney city tour.
Weeks two-ten are spent working four days per week (approximately 30 hours per week) in a local organization, experiencing cultural activities and attending workshops on campus.
Students will be supported by a Macquarie University Internship advisor, who will assist and guide students thoughout their internship experience. Students will also have access to on-campus counseling services and computer facilities.
An internship pre-departure guide and handbook will be provided prior to arrival in Sydney. During the first week in Syndey, students will attend an orientation which covers program information and helpful hints about living in Sydney and the Australian work culture.
Students are strongly encouraged to organize weekend travel plans and trips away.
Housing
Students will be housed in student accommodations, sharing with other students. This accommodation will be situated on or near the Macquarie University campus in North Ryde, Sydney.
Alumni Feedback
"I interned at an insolvency firm in downtown Sydney. I attended many meetings and learnt so much about the business world in Australia. My fellow interns and I lived in two apartments in the Macquarie village and formed a family that did almost everything together. We were fortunate to be able to plan trips and travel outside of Syndey. The ten weeks I spent in Sydney were the best ten weeks of my life!" Nicole Cree, USA: Accounting Placement
"My adventurous spirit wouldn't be satisfied with just another internship: this internship had to be special. Working in Sydney was an incredible experience. When I first arrived, I was told."Australians play hard, but they work even harder too." I couldn't agree more with this statement. I already miss the Australian culture. My plan is to look for a job after I graduate in December - in Australia." Daniel Kerbel, USA: Risk Management Placement
